Baltic Specialized Installation Department was founded in Tallinn in 1963 according to the order Nr.96 dated on May, 15, 1963 issued by “MinMontageSpecStroy”, USSR and was the part of the trust “Sevzapmontazhavtomatika”. Riga Installation department Nr 4 was subordinated to this board.

According to the USSR law about economical independence of Latvian SSR, Lithuanian SSR and Estonian SSR and the protocol of negotiations with the vice-chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Estonian SSR on January, 2, 1989 there was issued an order to liquidate the structural unit of installation trust from January, 2, 1990 and on its basis to found the small enterprise “Montav”.
According to order No. 40 of the Estonian Building Association dated on August, 19,1999, order No. 15 of the trust “Sevzapmontazhavtomatika of the USSR Ministry of Special Works and Installation dated on August,16,1999, order No. 123-K of the small enterprise “Montav” dated on August,16,1991 and personal applications of the employees of the small enterprise, the staff of small enterprise “Montav”, including Riga Specialized Department No. 4, according to the state on September, 1 ,1991, has been reorganized into Joint-Stock Company "SZMA".
Limited Liability Company – Joint-Stock Company “SZMA”, branch office Nr. 4, was founded on the basis of the existing department of the Riga joint-stock company, by the order of Supreme Soviet of the Republic of Latvia dated on August,24,1991, the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia dated on August,25,1991, as well as according to the agreement dated on October,4,1991, which was signed by the minister of construction and architecture of the Republic of Latvia, the minister of construction  of the Republic of Estonia and the minister of construction and urbanization of the Republic of Lithuania.
Limited Liability Company “SZMA Riga” was reorganized from the joint-stock company “SZMA”, department Nr.4 and registered in the Register of Companies of the Republic of Latvia on October, 28, 1996 with Nr. 000331478.
